We've been living with a Spaniard couple in our week here, but we transferred to the school today. We did this for a number of reasons, one being time. It was really nice to be walking to much in between the house and the school each day (there and back three times a day) but it was taking so much time I wasn't having time to do all of my homework AND get enough sleep. ;) We are now staying and the school and will be eating our meals at the restaurant next door.
Breakfast: Coco pebbles... and a prize! ;)
Oh, and a churro. :)
Lunch: Sopa de verduras
(Creamy vegetable soup)
Pollo y ensalada
(Chicken and Salad)
After a lecture on Spanish Literature, we went to a bullfight museum. It was quite interesting.
Outside of bullfight museum
"Museo Taurino"
Traditional dress of the bullfighters.
This particular suit cost 15,000 Euros! They are very expensive and HEAVY.
The fighters wear the suits so tight! It's crazy that they can even move around as they need to... Crazy.
The goal of bullfighting is to conquer the bull in as little time as possible. When the fight is over, the fighter gets from the bull one ear, two ears, or both ears and the tail, depending on how good the fighter is.
Two ears and the tail is the highest honor.
One of the bull head missing both of his ears... meaning he fought a torero that was pretty good.
He got a mouthful of Rodd's hair... :)
They say that the best bullfight is from Salamanca.
It's their 'claim to fame', among other things. :)
There are two capes used, one during the first round and one in the second.
This is the first one... so heavy!
Rodd and his 'capa'.
This is the second cape used.
Ole!
Rodd and more of the suits they wear.
Dinner was grilled ham and cheese sandwiches.
They made me a gluten free one, but I forgot to take a picture. It was made with tortilla espaƱola instead
of bread (the same thing we made at our cooking class last week.) It was good!
Since we are living downtown now, we left after dinner and looked for a treat.
Tonight: Ice cream.
Can you guess which one is Rodd's?
The dessert at the restaurant is fruit... we usually take some as a snack,
like to try the Pasteles EspaƱoles while we can. :)
